Hello after a brief hiatus , we return with our " chat " . Today interviewed a great French artist . Jérôme C. also known as Pyrogas - Sipo . I hope you all enjoy .
1. hello , how are you Jérôme ?
Tell us how you got into the wonderful world of art?
Hello, I'm fine thank you! Night falls and it's particularly cold outside but it's an atmosphere that I really appreciate I must say so, yes, I'm fine!
Actually, I've always been in. I really grew up with a pencil in a hand and a sheet in the another. But it's clear that it was not going very far. I especially learned to draw and refine my work. It was only a few years later it started to get serious and I started to work on my world and explore all other personal tracks. Still my goal remains the same, I sincerely wish to continue to explore all this and expand my world !
2 . Artists from all over the world work in certain ways and have a personalized style of work, you could share a little of your work style ?
In fact, I don't really know what my style of work is. I never know. I absolutely like working on expressions, feelings, ... I like when it says something (whether through a model or landscape), I really want to create a heavy atmosphere so that the image speaks for itself. This is really my No. 1 goal. It's not always easy, but it is also what makes this, is an exciting job! At least, It's great pleasure to make that! Although sometimes it may take considerable time.
3 . What are your favorite tools and techniques you use in your designs ? What other applications do you use other than Photoshop ?
I think that there is no secret here, my tool number one is and will remain the brush ! But if I could choose another tool, it would be... time. It takes me a lot of time to watch every corner of my work, not missing some details for it could be the best. Sincerely, I spend more time watching my creation than working on it ! But hindsight is something very important to me. I like to take the time , have clear ideas and eyes rested. I always keep working, in order to stay focused as long as possible so I don’t lose sight of my goal. When you work on something, it happens that you may change the way you see your work. Sometimes it is not so bad, but others it is important not to lose sight of the main idea.
Otherwise I don't use anything but Photoshop ! I realize sketches on my notebook and once it is done and the idea is drawn, I go on the computer to work it all out.
4 . that inspires you to create ?
So many things! Anything can inspire me! I can find inspiration through music, words, books, moods, personal experiences ... everything is good ! I don't think too much for ideas. Often , this happens like a click. I don't really have an explanation, but sometimes I'm much more receptive to some things, I don't know why. For my inspiration, it's a bit the same thing.
5 . furthermore , there is an artist who is your idol maximum ?
It's undoubtedly Travis Smith (He makes a lot of CD cover as Opeth, Katatonia and many others (groups I particularly love) and Marcela Bolivar. They are two great artists I love, they have an extraordinary world, it speaks a lot to me and every time I see one of their creations, I'am fascinated !
6 . let's talk about inspiration, how the creative process ...
how do these ideas ?
First, I draw my idea on a sheet. I took my pencil and lake a sketch to not to forget. Then, once I'm ready to work, I put in the atmosphere (because yes, the atmosphere is very important to work) and only after, I set to work. I must have a subdued atmosphere with background music to immerse myself fully in my creation. Moreover, at this moment, I listen to a lot Secrets of the moon, a group that I highly recommend. Once everything together, I can finally work in peace! Then the ideas come from themselves, since the base is resting on a leaf I can venture to right to left while keeping the idea.
7 . has preferred some work and why ?
I don't really know. Currently I would choose Old Memories. It's a creation that I am very attached at this time. it inspires me something strong. The feeling of having experienced something, as if I left something in a particular place and then, several years later, come back and see that everything is dead, annihilated, lifeless.
This design shows that even if death strikes, the memories remain. I think it's something beautiful. Sad, but beautiful. And I think we all (or most) experienced this feeling at least once. It is the reason why Old Memories II was born! I have never produced a sequel before this one... I couldn’t help it. I felt I could make a sequel to this feeling. It is the reason why I set to work.
8 . Do you have any other projects you are currently working ? Share a quick preview of what you're working on now .
In fact, I am currently working on other projects but nothing clear to talk about yet. I would like to make a lot of things but I don't have time. I make sure to bring a lot of ideas and then get to work once I’ll have free time. I hope in any case that you will like my future work! I know I'm relatively slow in production, but as I said, I like to take my time. I never died, I just work at my own space. I think this is something very important, it's necessary to take some time and relax. It’s not worth imposing unnecessary pressure.
