1. Celine welcome to our chat, tell us a little about yourself and what you do?

Hello ! I'm 27 years old and I'm retoucher in Showroomprive.com since december.

It's been 12 years since I work on Photoshop in self-taught (after learning some basics in art school in 2001-2002).
I began by using Photoshop 7 and I currently works with Photoshop CS6.

2. how was your first steps into digital?

It was very funny because it brought together everything I was learning on Photoshop, so it was like nothing !
Initially I didn't have good photos and the quality was not great.

In 2007 I discovered DeviantART and, for me, it's from this moment that I realized photo-manipulations, because this site has allowed me to enjoy myself on many and varied ressouces, but especially better quality compared to what I had at the time.

3. what were your difficulties in its evolution?

My development has been very slow. At the time, there were not as many tutorials like now and I had to learn and be curious. In addition there were less tools on Photoshop 7 than CS6. So I evolved with it all.
Some tools (like the pen for example) scared me because of their complexity. I have been slow to understand how to use it (now I use it every day at my work).

4. besides photoshop you use other software?

Yes, I sometimes use Illustrator to create vector illustrations and Premiere for make video. But I really spend all my time on Photoshop !

5. what is your favorite technique in photoshop?

I love retouch lights and shadows on an element for that is well integrated in the scene. The principle is simple, just use grayscale and play with different modes of layer blending, but we also know where the light goes, this is the most difficult.

6. is there any technique that is still a challenge for you?

I would like to combine painting and photomanipulation to make matte painting but it isn't obvious.
The hardest part is finding stock, paint elements, but also successfully harmonize all retouching shadows and lights.

7. and now what is your biggest challenge as an artist?

I have several challenge in fact : find my style, be original and always have imagination (currently this isn't the case, I hope that come back !)

8. share with us their artistic references?

Many artists inspire me and amazes me.
For example: Nathalia Suellen, GrandeOmbre, Morteque, Alexandra V. Bach, Neverdying, Conzpiracy, ElenaDudina, LuneBleu, MichaelO, Michelle Monique Rusalkadesign, and so on !

I find my inspiration mainly on DeviantArt, Behance or Shadowness. Otherwise I spend much of my free time on online blogs that talk about the digital arts. I see a lot of creations that inspire me and give me every day want to try other techniques.

Otherwise, the music is really the most important of my sources of inspiration. I love to create fantasy and dark universe from what I hear (film music, metal, pagan folk, etc.). There is also cinema, literature and digital art which grow my imagination.

9. how you deal with art today, work or hobby?

At the moment it's more a work even though I don't really created in my job.
I would like to find time to exercise my hobby. I miss it.
Meanwhile, I share my knowledge, my favorites... on a blog that I just created (in french) :

10. what advice for aspiring digital art?

I will tell them especially not give up and be patient (you can not learn everything at once).
I also tell them it is necessary to test a maximum of things, it helps to be well familiar with the software and have their own techniques.
Finally, I would tell them to let go and create for themselves and not for others, that's the most important !

Thank you again fot this interview :glomp: !
